Question: Can i use a full-spectrum bulb in place of sunlight for my bonsai tree?

I don't want to put it outside because as long as it's inside in the warm the leaves stay green and full and I really don't have a window seal large enough for it's pot. Can I use a full spectrum bulb to replicate the sunlight? I know this works for reptiles so what about plants, it's an elm tree if that makes a difference.

When I was younger, I had a couple of fluorescent bulbs over my plants in the winter time (Oregon ha dark winter days), you can buy those at Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace Hardware, or Tru Value Hardware. I think they are fairly inexpensive ($20 tops). You may also check out specialty-lights.com or growlights.net - I looked at those, but are fairly expensive. Not sure about the full spectrum bulb. I looked at Target also, they have 'grow bulbs', but I did not see any fixtures to install them in...

Hello, It's definitely possible to grow bonsai trees using grow lights, but you need to choose the correct bulb. It's also important for the plant to get "sleep time " so you'll need to purchase a timer. Forget the word "bonsai ". An elm is a tree that must go through all 4 seasons. You can keep it inside, but it's going to die without it's natural cycle.
