Getting into bonsai trees? where do i start, how do i take care of the tree?

Question: Getting into bonsai trees? where do i start, how do i take care of the tree?

(Posted by: Bigg Murr on 2010-02-01 11:09:53)

I am just getting into growing Bonsai Tree's and I am loving it. I just want to know if there are any tips or tricks I can follow to be successful? Now I live in a colder climate so will that affect any tree that I decide to grow? Also, there are not many nursery's that are close by to buy a bonsai. I started to look online, does anyone recommend buying a bonsai Tree online? I have found a couple sites that sell them, let me know what you think? http:/ / www.cowabonsai.com/ http:/ / www.bonsaigardener.org/ http:/ / www.bonsai- bci.com/

That is nice to start a new good habbit to grow bonsai trees. I just into this field for 6 yrs and it is not hard to start from Japanese maple trees which are fit to the climate zone of where you live. Buy seedling first at least 2 trees for once if you order cuz there is none will garrentee you wouldn't let them die from lack of water or disease, though maple doesn't have much problem. Still they need your tendering care. Conifer, such as special pine tree is also very easy to look after and their growing speed is not that fast so that if you are a person with busy life but still would like to keep bonsai as spare time hobbie, this is definitly your choise. Maple grouth speed is moderate and about 2-3 yrs old of baby tree then you could start to train them as bonsai and as what you like but not much of cutting or harsh train. During their growing patter then you could learn from them how to train or cut into the ideal shape as what you wish. You could learn from error you made from the past year and would not to make a mistake to cut the wanted branch or trig that looks like unwanted. Conifer and some other blooming flower tree really need some deep knowledge of planting to minimize their size into a little pot. Why not start from maple first then the other. Also to check up from website to observe the foliage of maple tree you favor and the color when they change in fall you like best then choose that. Mostly expenseive speice you better got not to buy it cuz you are just a fresh green, it would cost you a lot ot learn from that to have an experience.
